47 Songs That Have Debuted at No. 1 in the Billboard Hot

In the history of modern music rankings, only a few songs have debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The Hot 100 is known as the all-genre singles chart in the US. It was officially launched in 1958. But Billboard started using modern airplay and sales data in 1991.

Moreover, Billboard began absorbing digital sales data in 2005 and YouTube data in 2013. The chart is updated at least once a year, to reflect quickty progressing trends.

Even though more than 1,000 singles have reached the coveted No. 1 spot, it’s a lot more difficult for a song to premiere in the top position.
