Kanye planning visit to Russia to meet with Vladimir Putin
Kanye West intends to travel to Russia.
According to Billboard, the Donda rapper will travel to Moscow later this year to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin; conduct Sunday Services, and promote his business.
Kanye’s representative, Ameer Sudan, confirmed the trip, saying it will most likely take place in the spring or summer. This depending on his schedule.
To make the arrangements, Ameer is working with Scott Balber; the managing partner of Herbert Smith Freehills’ New York office and the firm’s U.S. head of investigations and financial services litigation. They would serve as intermediaries between the rapper and Scott’s clients, Azerbaijani-Russian billionaire real estate tycoon Aras Agalarov and his son Emin Agalarov, he explained.
“He will be spending a lot of time out there,” he said, adding that Russia will be Kanye’s “second home.”
Aras Agalarov is a personal buddy of Vladimir Putin, and according to Billboard, he’s been dubbed the “[Donald] Trump of Russia” because of the way he self-brands his properties. In order to increase his profile in the United States, Kanye will collaborate musically with his son Emin.
While Ameer would not reveal the transactions Kanye was working on with the Agalarov family, he did indicate they would boost the musician’s fortune to over $10 billion.
Kanye will also hold one of his Sunday Service events in Russia, which he hopes to personally invite Vladimir Putin to. In his 25-year career, this will be his first performance in Russia.
“This is Ye, Ye is going to get there anyhow,” Ameer said when asked if fresh US sanctions on Russia would affect his ability to get there. What do you think they’ll say? He’ll be a special visitor of the Agalarovs. Kanye understands more about what’s going on than the average person, and he’s well aware of what’s going on. And it’s not that I have something against the US or that I want to start a war. But Ye is Ye, and he can’t be controlled.”
