Here’s what she had to say to Octavia Akoulitchev of Rollacoasta…

“I’ve always wanted to be a model, ever since I was 12 years old,” she says. It all began when I was a student at Brandy Melville. At the time, that was my favorite brand. One of the girls who worked there once said to me, “We’d love to shoot you in our clothing.” I was freaking out because I like the brand, and I was shopping with my mother on that particular day, so I said, “Mom, please, I implore you!” This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. Why can’t I do it like you?’ She refused, claiming that I was too young. I’ve been asking and begging ever since. She finally said, “OK, you may model now, that’s great.” when I was 16. I’ve been modeling for a year now, and I’ve had a lot of fun doing it.

“Just be true to yourself, and don’t let what other people say impact you or change what you’re doing,” she says of her mother’s counsel. It’s also very acceptable to decline.’

“Because I have this platform, I simply think it’s incredibly essential to make others aware of the climate and the fact that the environment is something everyone should focus on,” she says of her position. The world is everyone’s shared home; people should think of it as such and treat it as such. People don’t treat their apartments the same way they treat the globe; they don’t fling trash all over the place and clean up after themselves. That is how I believe we should respect our Earth. Making lifestyle adjustments is also much easier than most people believe.”
