Ryan Reynolds on what made him a better parent !

Ryan Reynolds was candid on stage during a discussion titled “Creativity; at the Pace of Culture” at the Lumiere during the 2022 Cannes Lions on Wednesday (June 22) in Cannes, France.

The 45-year-old actor spoke to the audience about learning from his mistakes and passing that knowledge on to his three daughters; Betty, Inez, and James, whom he shares with wife Blake Lively.

“I have three daughters.” They’re out of control. Ryan joked about his children, “I think they have rabies sometimes”. “I’m like any parent – every now and then I’ll snap”. What you do afterwards is more interesting than what you do in the moment.”

He went on to say that his “brutal mistakes” have given him more insight and inspired him than any of his professional successes; and that he’s passing that on to them.

Ryan explained, “I used to tell my kids, ‘Don’t waste your mistakes”. “It’s easy to be absorbed by shame and this idea that you’ve done something wrong when you’re making mistakes; but you also have to look at it critically and use it as a stepping stone to learning something profound.”

Ryan announced late last year that he was taking a break from filmmaking to spend more time with his daughters.
