‘Squid Game’ team reacts to the SAG Award nominations!

The Squid Game is going down in history!

The Netflix series was nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series; as well as two mentions for leads Lee Jung-Jae and Jung Ho-Yeon, at the 2022 SAG Awards on Wednesday (January 12). It was the first non-English TV series and the first Korean series to be nominated.

“I believe hearing the nomination today was the happiest day since we started Squid Game. The fact that the entire cast was nominated for best ensemble rather than just one or two leading actors. “Just being nominated provides me immense delight as a director who cast and created the series”; director and writer Hwang Dong-hyuk told Deadline.

The show premiered in September and rapidly became one of the most popular on the platform; with over 3 billion minutes viewed and 142 million households reached.

Hwang Dong-hyuk recently revealed that a second season of the show was in the works, and hinted that a third season would be in the works as well.
